Compressed air is used in many manufacturing facilities to drive assembly lines, for air powered tools, injection moulding machines and more. Usually, there is one air compressor that feeds air to multiple points of the plant, with air lines made out of polyamide tubing and using Delrin® homopolymer acetal to join the tubing together. Delrin® homopolymer acetal is by far the best choice due to its mechanical advantage over copolymer acetal and its best in class tensile strength at yield. It makes Delrin® the safest choice to cope with the extreme air pressures being moved around the manufacturing plant.
Compared to acetal copolymer, Delrin® acetal homopolymer offers higher tensile strength, stiffness, creep and fatigue resistance, and significantly higher impact resistance. The extra mechanical properties of Delrin® allow for parts to be made thinner and smaller, whilst delivering the same performance of a thicker, less compact copolymer acetal moulding.
