LG LUPOX® PC/PBT is a blend of polycarbonate and PBT with high impact strength.

LG LUPOX is a family of PBT blends, blended with PET (Polyethylene Teraphthalate), PC and ABS. PBT is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with excellent properties such as high strength, rigidity, good resistance to fatigue and creep at elevated temperatures.

The extensive portfolio offers products for general purpose, flame retardant (to resist or delay fire from spreading), glass fibre reinforced, food contact and more.

Where impact and chemical resistance are both needed, LUPOX PC/PBT can be used. The impact also remains at low temperatures. LG LUPOX PC/PBT can also be used where toughness and resistance to environmental stress cracking from fuels and lubricating fluids is required.

The PC contributes to impact, stiffness and heat resistance, while the PBT contributes to chemical resistance. Parts made with PC/PBT are generally unsuitable for thinner wall sections, as the material does not flow well enough for very thin wall design.

The shrinkage varies based upon the ratio of PC and PBT, so where the tool is designed for a specific grade, it can be difficult to substitute for other polymers.
