There are many switches and wheel rotation controls inside an automotive vehicle. These are to control the car temperature, to open and close windows, to activate special features, to control audio features and much more. Beneath the various control switches is a Delrin® homopolymer acetal mechanism, providing a balance of spring-like properties to ensure the buttons and control wheels operate efficiently and smoothly, not only for function but for a quality feel for the user.
Compared to acetal copolymer, Delrin® acetal homopolymer offers higher tensile strength, stiffness, creep and fatigue resistance, and significantly higher impact resistance. The extra mechanical properties of Delrin® allow for parts to be made thinner and smaller, whilst delivering the same performance of a thicker, less compact copolymer acetal moulding.
