Electric windows are a standard feature of most modern-day vehicles. Operated from either within the vehicle or from the remote control, modern designs glide smoothly with very little noise. It is Delrin® homopolymer’s inherent properties that give a repeatable and reliable performance for this application.
With electric vehicles, low noise becomes an even more crucial requirement due to the extremely quiet nature of electric drive systems. Background noises, such as electric window mechanisms, need to be minimal and non-distracting. By taking advantage of Delrin® homopolymer’s intrinsic properties of low wear and low noise, seamless operation can be provided.
Compared to acetal copolymer, Delrin® acetal homopolymer offers higher tensile strength, stiffness, creep and fatigue resistance, and significantly higher impact resistance. The extra mechanical properties of Delrin® allow for parts to be made thinner and smaller, whilst delivering the same performance of a thicker, less compact copolymer acetal moulding.
